Eminent Military Historian G.L. Weinberg on Adolf Hitler and the United States

Born during the waning years of the Weimar Republic, Gerhard L. Weinberg escaped Hitler Germany to England in 1938. In the 1950s, he embarked on a remarkable academic career in the U.S. In his meticulous archival work, he discovered Hitler's unpublished second book that dealt extensively with the later dictator's foreign policy designs. The talk is in Belk Library, room 114, details Hitler's views of and plans for the U.S. and the role of the "Jewish Question."

Journalist and author Beth Macy will discuss her New York Times-bestselling book,
DOPESICK: Dealers, Doctors, and the Drug Company That Addicted America. The book
chronicles the opioid crisis, including the role of doctors, drug companies, and the government in the crisis. DOPESICK describes how the epidemic has impacted the lives of first responders and a diverse group of Americans living in the suburbs, small farming communities and cities. Macy will discuss her journey in gathering interviews with victims, family members, dealers and
medical professionals from southwest Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley.
