Fulbright Week 2019

Mark your calendar: March 12-14, 2019

Appalachian State University is will be hosting Fulbright Week 2019, an annual event organized and supported by multiple partners across campus, including administrative offices and faculty. A plethora of events have been planned to help share the many opportunities available to you through Fulbright, answer questions you have about the program, and help you prepare a strong Fulbright application. A representative from the Fulbright Scholar Program from the Institute of International Education (IIE) and a Fulbright Foreign Scholar from Algeria will also join us for the week.

The week is sponsored by the Office of International Education and Development, the Office of Research, and the Center for Academic Excellence.

Wednesday, March 13, 11am-12pm in 415 Rough Ridge, PSU: Fulbright Student Award Information Session with Joanie Andruss, Assistant Director of Nationally Competitive Scholarships.  Pre-Register Here

Are you a current undergraduate or graduate student interested receiving a fully-funded award to study, teach, research or pursue other creative endeavors in one of over 140 countries?  Attend this session to learn more about Fulbright Student Awards, tips for applying, and how NCS support you.  Hear from current applicants and leave inspired to pursue these amazing opportunities!


Wednesday, March 13, 4pm-5pm in 136 Snake Mountain, PSU: Fulbright Student Advising Drop-in Hour with Joanie Andruss, Assistant Director of Nationally Competitive Scholarships.

Did you miss the Fulbright Student Information Session or have specific questions that you would like to ask?  Are you wondering if this is an opportunity for you?  Pop by 136 Snake Mountain anytime during this hour to have an informal advising session where your individual questions can be answered.

Are you interested in applying for a Fulbright Student Award, but want to learn more about the application process or get started on your writing?  Attend this session to learn techniques for creating compelling essays and learn more specific details about the application process.  It is highly recommended that you have a general understanding of the Fulbright award and potential ideas of what you might like to do or where you might like to travel, but you don't need to have started writing yet!
