The Office of Student Research at Appalachian State University would like to encourage faculty who have engaged undergraduate students in a completed, outside of the classroom research project or creative endeavor to participate in the 2019 National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR). This conference, of close to 4000 participants, promotes undergraduate research, scholarship and creative activities in all disciplines. It provides a great opportunity for undergraduate students to network, learn about graduate schools and employment opportunities, and gain a broad understanding of research across disciplines. Appalachian State has typically been listed as one of the "Institutions leading the way in NCUR participation".
This year's event will be held at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia from April 11-13, 2019. Presenters must complete the online abstract submission form at Abstract Submission Portal to be considered for acceptance. Guidelines for abstract submissions are located at the following site: Abstract Guidelines The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, December 4, 2018.
The Office of Student Research can offer funding through our Travel Grants to support travel to present at this conference. Due to the nature of this conference, in order to be considered for an Office of Student Research (OSR) Travel Grant, students MUST complete the Undergraduate Research Office Coordinator Information section of the NCUR abstract submission form. The Coordinator's name would be Rebecca Battista, the Institution would be Appalachian State University and the Coordinator's Contact Info would be: email: firstname.lastname@example.org, title: Director, phone number: (828) 262-7655. This provides us with access to the student submissions and allows us to connect with the students from Appalachian that are intending to present.
NCUR abstract acceptances are sent out January 28, 2019. The Office of Student Research can then coordinate with students who listed our information with their abstract to assist with the conference. OSR Travel Grant applications will be accepted in the March 15th deadline cycle. We must have your online student application and your online Faculty Recommendation by this date.
If you have any questions, please call the Office of Student Research at 262-7655.
