Say What? Exploring Freedom of Speech at Appalachian November 12-16

 say_what_poster_2018.jpg We are excited to announce a week of events and programs related to exploring freedom of speech and expression on our campus from November 12th-16th.   Events include two keynote speakers.  Toussaint Romain - civil rights activist, former public defender, and constitutional law educator, will be at Appalachian on Monday, November 12; and Stewart Harris - radio show host, former environmental, civil rights and First Amendment attorney, and constitutional law professor, will be at Appalachian on Wednesday, November 14. See the website for more details. This week of events is sponsored by Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, the Student Government Association, Sustained Dialogue, and the Residence Hall Association. Please consider:1) attending one or more of the events that interest you2) bringing one of your classes to one or more of the events as you deem appropriate3) offering extra credit to students in your class for attending one of the events (and perhaps writing a reflection paper) as you deem appropriate.  We suggest the Keynote Sessions by Toussaint Romain and Stewart Harris, or Tuesday evening's Panel Discussion as especially relevant events. Thank you!Jonathon Hyde, Dean of StudentsJacqui Bergman, Interim Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs
