Study Abroad Application Deadlines and Scholarship Reminder

Dear students,

The next cycle of OIED Study Abroad Scholarship applications will open on February 15 with a deadline of March 15. Scholarships range from $250 to $2,000. Any full-time, degree-seeking student applying to a credit-bearing study abroad program that takes place between 5/1/19 and 5/1/20 is eligible to apply: Students do not have to be accepted to a program to apply for a scholarship.  

OIED also offers assistance on a range of international education scholarships, such as the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship. For more information visit

The Education Abroad Office is also still accepting applications to study abroad for Summer and Fall/AY ‘19.  The deadline for most Fall programs is February 15th and the summer deadlines range from March 1st to March 15th

Be sure to stop by our Education Abroad Information Fair on Thursday, January 31st from 11-1 PM in the International Hallway (Plemmons Student Union) to learn about our programs and spin our giveaway wheel.

Listed below are some programs that may be of particular interest to Honors students. Students should work closely with their departmental advisor and the Education Abroad office to determine whether the courses offered align with their Appalachian requirements.

ISA Euroscholars - EuroScholars is a unique research abroad programme designed for advanced and talented undergraduate students from US and Canadian institutions looking for an international research experience.

Students can also use the advanced search feature to search summer and semester programs by program strength, language, etc.  For additional help in choosing a program students can schedule advising appointments with the Education Abroad office by visiting the Advising section of the international.appstate website.
