Transfer Student Application for Admission

Application Requirements & Instructions

Students not currently enrolled at ASU wishing to transfer into the Honors College from other colleges/universities must have been accepted to ASU first, and then apply to the Honors College.

A complete application, includes the following:

  • Submission of the following online application materials:
    • Applicant information
    • A short (maximum 2,500 characters) essay describing how participation in The Honors College will help the student achieve their personal, professional, and intellectual goals; this includes a description of a potential Honors Thesis project (e.g., creative or research).
    • Two letters of recommendation from faculty members the student has had in college/university.
    • Student's transcript on file at ASU. {Note: The Honors College can access within the university's electronic system the current, on file, transcript of record at ASU of all Transfer Student Applicants once they have been admitted to ASU. These will be automatically reviewed as part of all complete applications after the application deadline. Therefore the current/latest full semester grade report will be considered for the application in addition to any previous transcripts on file with ASU.}

About the Online Application

  • Only complete applications will be considered.
  • The online application can be "saved" as partially-complete, then logged into at a later time for completion and submission.
  • Applicants must submit the email addresses of two faculty instructors from classes they have taken at a college or university from whom they are requesting letters of recommendation. These letters of recommendation must be submitted by the application deadline in order for the application to be complete. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that recommenders have sent in their letters by the deadline.
  • After the student has submitted the application, they will receive confirmation including a copy of the application (not recommendation letters) via e-mail.
  • Contact honors@appstate.edu (link sends e-mail) with any questions or problems with this application.
  • No applications or revisions will be accepted after the deadline, so please start early and resolve any technical issues before the deadline.
