Honors faculty member Dr. Alexandra Sterling-Hellenbrand, a 2019-20 Fulbright Scholar with the Fulbright Scholar Program, was in Austria when the COVID-19 pandemic required her to cut the residency short and return to the United States. Despite all challenges, Dr. Hellenbrand returned safely, transitioned to remote teaching, and adjusted her research plan to continue her study. Dr. Hellenbrand is a professor of German and global studies in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Appalachian, and this past year, was the Fulbright Visiting Professor of Cultural Studies at the University of Graz in Graz, Austria.
