The senior recital is the capstone experience for every Music Performance major. It represents the culmination of four years spent practicing, studying and performing music from a wide range of genres and style periods. The senior recital is an incredible and rare opportunity to group musical works together that were conceived separately by varying composers in different countries and at different times. Together, the pieces should fit together to form a meaningful musical unit. A truly meaningful and successful performance requires deep understanding of historical and analytical contexts of each piece. This written component provides a glimpse into the composers' lives and careers and provides a brief analytical overview of each piece. My hope is that this creates a satisfying and meaningful context for my senior recital. This component also provides a description of how each piece was chosen and a reflection on some aspects of preparing for a public performance. A DVD of the performance from April 12, 2014 has been included.
