This written component serves as an academic addition to a lecture-recital that was given on April 19, 2013. It includes a brief history of the Irish flute, regional styles, descriptions of the tune types, and descriptions of my reasoning for choosing the repertoire that was on the recital. I reflect on how this impacted my identity as a person of Irish decent and a classically trained flutist. Additionally, I describe Irish ornamentation and how it feels different to play the Irish flute than the Boehm system silver flute.
