Museums and Heritage Studies Class Travels to D.C.

Dr. Waldroup's HON 3515 seminar: Museums and Heritage Studies traveled to Washington, DC over Spring Break to visit museums and meet with archivists, curators, and other museum professionals. Highlights included a visit to the National Library of Medicine and the Smithsonian storage facility — an Ikea-sized storage unit filled with museum artifacts — in Suitland, MD. Students (shown in photograph in front of the Washington Monument) not only visited exhibitions but learned about museum careers and gained an understanding of museum collection and management policie.
