The field of Computer Information Systems is very broad and can be overwhelming to students thinking about career opportunities. In order to get a better understanding of the CIS field after graduation, a survey of graduates from the CIS department at Appalachian State University since 2008 was conducted. This research addresses four main questions: how the graduates’ education prepared them for the job, their job satisfaction level, interesting projects or experiences obtained in their job, and what the department should change in the future. A few noteworthy findings to be taken into consideration involve improved manners of promoting CIS and recent graduate’s thoughts about updating the curriculum to better fit the current industry demands.
