Honors Graduates are hooded in Honorum Laurus Ceremony!

Friday May 8th, we held the Honorum Laurus Graduationin which we celebrate those students who completed the requirements to earn the distinction of University Honors. In this ceremony, 75 students were each hooded and received the Honors medal becoming Laurus Honorum, "one honored with the laurel." The medal design reflects the logo of the Honors College, which in turn incorporates the mountain songbird of the Appalachian State University word-mark. Our graduates take flight giving their song to the world.  The Honors College wishes them every success and follows their bright futures with pride and great interest. In this graduation ceremony, we also honored distinguished faculty members who served our Honors students during their time at Appalachian including Drs. Stan Aeschleman (Special Award Winner), Thomas McLaughlin (Teacher of the Year), and Mark Zrull (Mentor of the Year).
