Tyler Ramsey (’16) Does Ground-breaking Research with NIEHS

Honors Alumnus (’16) and chemistry major Tyler Ramsey is working at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), a part of the National Institutes of Health. Tyler’s research team has recently made ground-breaking findings that, “Lavender and tea tree oils may be causing breast growth in young boys.”

Check out the story by Linda Coutant here in Appalachian Today. In this interview, Tyler credits the Honors College with preparing him for this significant work with NIEHS. From the challenge of his Honors thesis, to the diversity of his Honors seminars, and guided by the Honors mentorship of Dr. Leslie Jones (former Honors College Director), Tyler learned team-work, how to build empathy, and how to do research.
