Dr. Dane Ward Endowed Honors Research Scholarship

This scholarship honors the great life and work of our colleague and friend Dr. Dane Ward, former dean of University Libraries at Appalachian. The Dr. Dane Ward Endowed Research Scholarship is intended to support exceptional research projects by Honors students at Appalachian. Preferred projects will be those seeking to make a substantial impact by increasing awareness, access to information, or direct support for a community of vulnerable people, with the potential of impacting the world and humanity! Please note: “research” here also includes scholarship and/or creative activity.

Annual scholarship support from the Dr. Dane Ward Endowed Honors Research Scholarship will be approximately $750, and may be used for supplies, equipment, the collection and use of data and materials, technology needs, and travel to conferences to report on research findings.

Students:  to apply, please click here and fill out the application in consultation with your faculty research mentor(s), and ask your mentor to submit a letter of support for you and your project. The completed application form and the letter of recommendation should be sent as separate PDF files to honors@appstate.edu, with “Dr. Dane Ward Scholarship” in the subject line. The due date for applications is September 25th by 11:59pm, and the awardee will be notified soon thereafter.
