Message from Dean Jeff Vahlbusch

Dear Honors students across the university (in the Honors College and departmental and WCOB Honors programs),

May I invite you to do yourselves a big favor?

Tomorrow (Thursday, September 24) I will email you an invitation to sign up for free access to the largest database in the world of high-impact learning experiences for undergraduates.  Think:

  • Scholarships, fellowships, grants
  • Undergraduate research opportunities
  • Internships and jobs (on-site and remote)
  • Volunteer experiences
  • Conferences, seminars, events, competitions
  • Journals and publications

The database is called the Student Opportunity Center (SOC), signing up is easy, and you can personalize your SOC experience with preferences (major, geographical location, goals, interests, etc.).  SOC will deliver, on your schedule, a steady stream of customized valuable opportunities for you to peruse and maybe, just maybe, to apply for. (The bulleted list above is taken from SOC literature).

Please watch your email for the SOC invitation—a gift to you from the Honors College—and please sign up right away, name your preferences, and start letting SOC work its magic for you!

And remember:  this is a gift you need to give yourself.

Yours,

Jeff
