Chris became an Honors Academic Mentor at App State in 2023. He has helped students by offering encouragement, providing advice, and introducing them to others who can support them on their academic journey. While a doctoral student at UNCG, Chris advised over 400 undergraduate students as a graduate assistant. After becoming a professor, he served as a thesis director for six undergraduate honors students, and served as a second reader on another four theses. He included students as co-authors on 17 peer-reviewed publications, and 6 professional academic conference presentations. He was a 2016-2017 "Fulbrighter" to Ireland, and has since served on App State's Nationally Competitive Scholarships’ Fulbright Committee to help students in their efforts to apply for Fulbright awards.
