Kelly Flanders Spends Nine Weeks in Pau, France

Honors senior Kelly Flanders spent nine weeks, May 28th through July 29, 2017, in Pau, France studying French. Kelly is a math major with minors in French and Economics. In Kelly’s words, “Pau is a smaller city that is down-to-earth, welcoming, and unique.
Honors Alumna Aakriti Agrawal (May ’17) is attending Duke University’s Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. Upon graduation from Honors at Appalachian State, Aakriti was accepted to the DPT programs at both Duke and Emory Universities.
Museums and Heritage Seminar Travels to D.C.

Ten students in the HON 2515 Museums and Heritage Studies seminar visited Washington, D.C., over fall break as part of their work for the course. This seminar was taught by Dr. Heather Waldroup, Associate Director of the Honors College and Associate Professor of Art History.
Honors Alumna Hailey Pister (Fall ’17) has joined the Peace Corps service as a Health Extension Volunteer in Albania. Hailey departed on January 15 and has arrived safely.
Welcome to Brad Rentz, our new Editor of the Honors Wednesday Memo (HWM)! Brad is a sophomore Honors student majoring in public administration and pursuing a certificate in geographic information systems. Brad came to Appalachian in August 2016 from Summerfield, North Carolina.
The Honors College Commencement was held on December 15th, 2017. With that event, we celebrated the accomplishments of those who completed the requirements to earn the distinction of University Honors.
