Note from Jeff

Today, long-time editor of the Honors Wednesday Memo Lakin Stevens pens her farewell to our faithful readers and to the Honors College.

Lakin, our gratitude and respect go with you, and we wish you all good things.

Message from Lakin Stevens

Dear Honors community,

It’s with great pleasure and confidence that I am passing on my position as editor of the Honors Wednesday Memo to first-year Honors student, Kistler Hunt! I’m so excited to see where her passion and enthusiasm for the Honors College guides her work as the new editor.

Throughout my time with the Honors College, I have been inspired and driven to grow, learn, and reflect upon my experiences. What does Honors mean to me? This is a question I urge all Honors students, faculty, and staff to reflect upon in order to make the most of our experiences.

In my Honors seminars, courses, and position as editor, I have constantly been called to reflect on this question. And I have learned more about myself and where I find my internal drive to achieve my goals. Honors means to me: the mission to never stop learning. And in this mission, I will continue to think critically, globally, and passionately.

As I move forward in my education and career, I know that my experiences at Appalachian and the Honors College will stay with me. The knowledge, the community, and the experience will continue to inspire the very drive that drew me to Honors at Appalachian as a freshman in 2019.

I thank you all for letting me be your editor, your voice, and your peer for the past two years! Please welcome and get to know Kistler on your own personal Honors and Appalachian journey as well.

Thank you,

Lakin Stevens
