Dr. Zwetsloot has been a faculty member at Appalachian State University since 2009 and became the Beaver College of Health Sciences Honors Mentor/Advisor in 2026. In 2015, Dr. Zwetsloot was awarded the University of North Carolina – Board of Governors Excellence in Teaching Award and in 2022 was inducted into the Academy of Outstanding Graduate Mentors by the Cratis D. Williams School of Graduate Studies. He feels very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with such bright and motivated students as a professor, an academic advisor, and as a research mentor. During his career at App State, he has mentored 16 undergraduate honors thesis student projects and 23 graduate student thesis projects, many of whom have authored/co-authored research presentations and/or published manuscripts on their research projects. Dr. Zwetsloot is excited to provide guidance and advice on your program and honors coursework and requirements, as well as research mentorship during your academic journey here in the Honors College at App State!
