Message from Dean Jeff Vahlbusch

Thinking Honors Courses.  This week I'm writing to all Honors students at Appalachian:

  • Honors College students
  • Departmental Honors students
  • Walker College of Business Honors students

Please read all the way to the end of this note! I invite each of you to start thinking about taking Honors College courses—HON seminars—in Spring 2020.  These are extraordinary courses led by extraordinary faculty members.

Choose HON seminars that will challenge you:  to stretch and grow; to develop yourself intellectually, personally, and professionally at the highest possible levels, especially in areas and skills that may be unfamiliar to you; to understand the world, society, and your fellow human beings in new and diverse ways.

Honors College students:  you may, and I think you should, work to take more than the three HON seminars that we require.  All HON seminars count toward the 24 required credits of Honors College courses.  And yes:  you can take HON 3515 before 2515, if you wish.

Departmental and WCOB Honors students:  I will send you our Spring 2020 HON course catalogue as soon as it is ready.  If there is an HON course or two that you would like to enroll in, please send me the course names (vahlbuschjb@appstate.edu).  Soon after Honors College registration is complete, I will make it possible for you to enroll in open HON courses!

Sincerely,

Jeff
